Cute faces ~ not sure if they look like cute monkeys

LOL ~  I can't stop laughing.  I was trying to do cute monkeys.  I had the correct design, but I got stuck in doing the dark brown areas of the monkey .. I tried and it didn't come out right.  So, I left the cookies looking like this ...

It was my first trying these monkeys.  I really wanted them to look like my monkeys for my sons 1st birthday coming up.  But oh well... maybe next time.

Here is the recipe for the sugar cookies:

You then print the image you want for the cookie cutter.  This is the image I chose:

I had my husband design the cookie cutter because I couldn't find one that I really liked.

You bake for 8 minutes at 375 degrees

My little helper "Patty"

Fresh out of the oven - allow it to cool
for 10 minutes

Royal icing recipe:  2 egg whites mixed with 3 cups of confectionar sugar.
Add brown food coloring
Royal icing takes time to dry - sometimes a couple of hours
you have to wait for this coat to dry before you
do the eyes and so on

:o)

I hope you liked my cute faces.  Don't forget to comment as I
really learn from comments.  Also, be my Fan if you are not
already one!!  :o)

Royal Icing for Monkey birthday

well well - the sugar cookies are done and they are soooo cute!

My dear lovely husband that I adore ~ designed a monkey cookie cutter for me!  yay!  I gave him the printed image, he went to home depot to get the special wire and he did it!!  It came out perfect!

Today I will be working with the royal icing part .. the fun part and the part that can be messy too if I am not too careful.

Check back later for before and after pictures ..

How to make a centerpiece .. Monkey theme ~ 1st birthday ..

Monkey here, monkey there, monkey everywhere!! LOL ...

My son's 1st birthday is coming up and his theme is that of a cute monkey.  Everyone calls him chunky monkey, so that's where my inspiration came from.  I just finished doing his monkey centerpieces and I decided to share with you all.

Please see below step by step instructions on HOW TO MAKE A CENTERPIECE.  The beauty of my centerpieces is that they were made out of his SIMILAC cans!!!  How cute is that!!?

I hope I inspired you in making your own!  If not, you can always count on me and I will make them for you.  :o)
